About Pama Yachts

Situated on 10 acres of prime beach front land at Pama Bay, just 1 ½ hours North East of Hong Kong by car, this third generation boat-builder is releasing some stunning new designs and high quality pilothouse motor yachts.

Philip Wang moved the family business from Taiwan where land and resources where scarce to Southern China in 1992, and teamed up with renowned marine architect and licensed professional engineer Howard Apollonio from the USA.

Utilizing Howard’s Coast Guard proven hull forms they developed a spacious and very stylish pilothouse design featuring 3 double cabins forward, with two el fresco dinettes, plus superb interior spaces in the saloon and pilothouse levels. High quality was very important and this area was chosen for its highly skilled woodworkers, and over the past 15 years Philip has built up a large workforce experienced in high technology composite FRP boatbuilding.

The Taiwanese have been building fibreglass boats for some 40 years now and have specialised in the pilothouse configuration for the American market refining this style and taking it to new levels of comfort and elegant form.

In 2007 Don Salthouse and two experienced owners of pilothouse launches from New Zealand spent three weeks searching through 15 different boat yards in China and Taiwan for the best pilothouse motor yachts available that would suit the Australasian market and our demanding boating conditions, returning to Pama and placing their orders they were so impressed.

The New Zealand team then worked closely with Pama to further refine and enhance their motor-yachts with innovative new products and equipment tested in the rugged New Zealand conditions. Pama’s willingness to take on new ideas and continually improve their products has resulted in an amazing new 62ft Pilothouse which will be on display at the 2008 Sanctuary Cove boat show in Brisbane.
